THE VUIL'RAITH CABAL
DESCRIPTIONThe Vul'Raith are a horrifying race of ancient nightmares who seem to have ripped their way through the fabric of space to terrorize the local neighborhood. Though they vary greatly in size and shape, they are all terrifying and seem intent on consuming the flesh of other races.
Yet, somehow, the Vuil'Raith get to vote as part of the Galactic Council, whereas the Nekro Virus have been banned as a 'menace'. How's that for fair? The Vuil-Raith do introduce a new ability to the game: that of Capture. Capturing a unit allows the Cabal to hold opponent ships on their faction sheet. These can be returned as part of a deal, or to use faction abilities. Manage to kill the Yin flagship? Destroy it once, capture it, hold it hostage. Or return it to build your own for free. Just beware, if someone blockades one of your space docks, you have to return all their captured units. Also note, you don't hold onto plastic for Infantry or Fighters, which are considered infinite resources. You return them and take a token from the supply, which can still be used for your other abilities. The Vuil'Raith also have some of the more interesting Space Docks. Each exists on a Dimensional Tear, which is a Gravity Rift to which you are immune. It has a flat production limit of 5, instead of the typical (planet production value) +2. |
STARTING UNITS1 Dreadnought
1 Carrier 1 Cruiser 3 Fighters 3 Infantry 1 Space Dock Well...at least that Dreadnought has a bit of capacity. A great starting fighting force, if not wondrous for expansion. STARTING TECHSelf-Assembly Routines
STARTING ABILITIESDEVOUR
Capture opposing non-structure units destroyed in combat. AMALGAMATION When Producing a unit, you may return 1 captured unit of that type without spending resources. RIFTMELD When researching a unit upgrade technology, you may return 1 unit of that type to ignore the tech prerequisites. I imagine the Vuil'Raith will be pretty frightening and somewhat annoying to play against, as their Devour limits the number of units you want on the board. Are you the L1Z1X? Good luck unlocking your Commander if the Cabal has too many of your Dreadnoughts. Beware the Beasts! |
AGENTNote this has to be done to someone else - but they can't be TOO mad at you! You made them money!
HEROCould be devastating, could be a let-down, depending on the dice. Still, a great deterrent that should keep large fleets away from your system!
|
COMMANDERNice way to beef up the massive fighter screens on your Dimensional Tear.
Unlock by having units in 3 gravity rifts. MECHNice way to replace your infantry for free.

PROMISSORY NOTE |
Good for Production. Falling apart at the seams. Remember your Space Docks have a fixed Production Limit, so you aren't adding the planet value for limits.
|
I would try to get this early on (pre-war with the Vuil'Raith) as insurance in case I later need to fly in and blockade a Dimensional Tear to get some ships back.
